Thursday’s Thoughts: “Stay Connected”

Yesterday, I walked out to my car after lunch, pushed the ignition button, and… nothing. No click. No lights. No hum. No power. Dead. As. A. Doornail.

It wasn’t just the engine—everything was shut down. Even the trunk wouldn’t open. I called in a higher power: AAA. And within 20 minutes, Enrique—my roadside savior—arrived. With his guidance, I discovered a tiny hidden gem inside my key fob: a physical key! (Who knew?!)

We popped the trunk, checked the battery, and lo and behold: the battery was at 100%. The alternator? Also 100%.

But here’s the twist—the battery wasn’t secured. The holding plate was missing. With every bump in the road, my 120-pound power source had been sliding around, slowly becoming disconnected. No connection… no power.

Enrique reset everything, anchored the battery, and—voilà!—life returned. The car roared back to life.

And that, my friends, is a sermon in itself.

It doesn’t matter how strong our faith is (100% battery), or how gifted and wired you are (100% alternator)—if we’re disconnected from the Source, we're going nowhere.

Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.”
—John 15:5

Sometimes we lose connection not because we’ve lost faith, but because we’ve loosened our grip, removed the anchor plate, let the bumps of life jostle us from the One who powers it all.

Let's check our connection today.

See you down the road!!

Grace and peace,
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
